Castle’s ruins in
Bodzentyn
Ruins
of the castle are on the steep slope of
Psarka river. From its very beginnigns the
castle underwent a number of reconstructions
due to its different owners, mainly Cracow
bishops, yet now what remains are the walls
of the Middle Ages. One day, the castle
functioned as the huge residence with the
Italian garden as well as several other
buildings such as: a baker’s, a
slaughterhouse, a barn, a place for soem
carts, storehouses and the wooden court
suitable to live in case of frequent
conversions. During its magnificence years
the castle consisted of three wings, a
courtyard and one small tower to keep
prisions in. The whole was surrounded by the
walls. At present waht remains are two tall
walls with some spaces for windows and the
red sandstone portal made in 17th
century.
